NSW: Busy night for firefighters

Sydney's fire brigades were busy overnight attending to a string of fires.

Fire brigades were called just after 2.00 AEST this morning to a Chinese restaurantat High Street at Penrith in Sydney's west.

Superintendent MARK BROWN says 20 firefighters from three units attended to the firewhich severely damaged the restaurant's reception area.

No-one was hurt.

Two hours later firefighters were called to a house fire in Newland Avenue, at Milperrain Sydney's southwest.

Superintendent BROWN says a woman was rescued by her husband and unconscious, sufferingfrom smoke inhalation and burns before the fire brigade arrived.

She and her daughter have been taken to hospital.

The house is severely damaged.

And, last night at about 10.00pm AEST, firefighters attended a fire in a granny flatat the rear of a house in Douglas Street, in the southwestern suburb of Fairfield.

Superintendent BROWN says a woman in the flat was rescued by her neighbours.

She was suffering from burns to her hands and feet and was taken to hospital.
